Chatterbox restaurant in georgia8/18/2023 MacDonald, who purchased land around Chatterbox Falls in 1927. The inlet was the early stomping ground of miner James F. In addition to its massive natural presence, Princess Louisa Inlet has deep Sechelt Indigenous history and a funky story. Princess Louisa Inlet, accessible by boat or plane, is one of the most scenic places to drop anchor, paddle and admire waterfalls on the West Coast. As we motored on, the steep granite walls rose up to greet us from dead calm waters. After floating for a few minutes and checking out the 2,100-metre, big-mountain terrain, I pointed the boat at the entrance to Malibu Rapids and inched toward our destination.Īrriving at slack tide made our final leg decidedly uneventful. We’d cruised the 180 kilometres from Vancouver in just over three hours, reaching the top of Jervis. Big snow-capped mountains soon appeared and the inlet felt fjord-like. The Strait of Georgia was easy and before long we banked right into Agamemnon Channel.Īs our boat charged onwards through the winding passage, we passed the village of Egmont and made our way deep into Jervis Inlet. As I throttled up and headed north, conditions were glasslike, smooth and sunny. Our 30-foot boat was easily up to the task, cruising at 55 km/h and tackling the trip with little effort. We departed Vancouver early on a Wednesday morning, last day of September, with just over three hours to make Malibu Rapids by deadline. Perfect for leisurely exploring, there is little to no current in Princess Louisa’s eight-kilometres of tidal waters, once you’re through Malibu Rapids. Currents at Malibu run up to 10 knots and the route is rocky and boulder-filled, so hitting a slack was definitely key for a leisurely passage. After sorting out kids and a few work items, we planned our trip to hit Malibu Rapids at the entrance to Princess Louisa at slack tide. Now, normally we might take more time getting organized, but on this quickdraw occasion, time was fleeting and hustle was key. My wife and I set departure for the next morning and planned three nights on anchor with a chance to squeeze in a final paddle trip. In addition, a warm forecast and nothing but sunny skies was in place for the South and Sunshine coasts. The new marine forecast was on hand: winds light for three days solid. To make Chatterbox our reality, the time to rally arrived. In spring, up to 60 waterfalls adorn the inlet’s steep granite, but Chatterbox, at 40 metres tall, is the grandaddy of them all. A few more campsites are available on nearby MacDonald Island. There’s a public dock, wilderness campsites, a shelter and pit toilets. A majestic waterfall located at the inlet’s head, Chatterbox tumbles down toward saltwater, spraying those who venture a hike up its boardwalks and flank. While Princess Louisa’s magic is indisputable and world class, Chatterbox Falls is the crown jewel. Accessible only by boat or air, Princess Louisa is reached from the Strait of Georgia via scenic Jervis Inlet. Located 180 kilometres north of Vancouver, the inlet is a mere eight kilometres long and never wider than about 1.5 kilometres. Princess Louisa Inlet isn’t that far, hidden away in traditional territory of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. A close friend had suggested Chatterbox Falls and Princess Louisa several times, noting it romantic and magical. We were looking for one last trip to cap British Columbia boating and paddling season before tougher inhospitable weather arrived. More luck than good planning landed my wife Jennifer and I in the middle of nowhere up the Sunshine Coast.

Ranch light dressing8/18/2023 This homemade Caesar dressing is healthier than the traditional kind, and it’s less fussy, too. Love a classic Caesar salad or a tray of veggies and ranch? These healthy salad dressing recipes are the ones for you. Creamy, Tangy Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes Toss it with colorful roasted vegetables, caramelized winter squash, Brussels sprouts, or this Wheat Berry Salad. I especially love this healthy salad dressing with fall and winter produce. Parsley, oregano, and thyme add fresh flavor to this tangy vinaigrette. It comes together in under 5 minutes and keeps for a week in the fridge. If you keep a bottle of balsamic vinegar in your pantry, there’s no reason you can’t make your own balsamic vinaigrette at home. I love tossing it with summer picnic fare like my classic Greek salad, Italian chopped salad, and grilled vegetables. I almost always have this zingy vinaigrette on hand in the summertime. My go-to healthy salad dressing recipe! Toss it with a simple green salad or drizzle it over cooked veggies like grilled asparagus or roasted beets. Try making one – I think you’ll find that salad has never tasted so good! Essential Vinaigrettesīreak out the oil and vinegar! These easy vinaigrettes come together in minutes. They may not last for weeks on a supermarket shelf, but they will add bold flavor (and nutrients!) to a homemade dressing. That means that it can be made with fresh ingredients like herbs, garlic, and avocado. Unlike most store-bought dressings, a homemade healthy salad dressing isn’t designed to keep for months on end. But that’s not all – it’ll taste better, too. Made with a base of extra-virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or Greek yogurt, it’ll be more nutritious than any bottled dressing you can find at the store. My simplest tip for anyone who wants to eat more vegetables – and enjoy them! – is to start making a healthy salad dressing at home. The phonics-based method starts by teaching young children all of the possible sounds made by consonants and vowels. After decades of watching public-school experiments with whole-language reading instruction and the following drop in literacy rates, most homeschooling families are turning to traditional phonics for reading instruction. The traditional kindergarten homeschool curriculum for reading is phonics-based. Should reading instruction be whole-language or phonics-based? Should math instruction follow traditional models or embrace the “new math”? Should students invest time in learning cursive? We’ll address each of these debates below to help you understand exactly how to choose a kindergarten homeschool curriculum that works for your family. What is shocking, however, is how much debate and controversy these three areas can generate, which makes choosing a kindergarten homeschool curriculum all the more difficult. Your kindergarten homeschool curriculum should focus on developing the basic knowledge and skills related to these fields. Not surprisingly, these areas are reading, math, and handwriting. This makes kindergarten an ideal time for laying the foundational knowledge in three areas so they develop skills essential to succeeding later in school, college, careers, and all areas of life. So, how do you choose the best curriculum for your youngsters? What exactly should such a curriculum focus on? 3 Things to Look for in a Kindergarten Homeschool Curriculumĭuring these early years, students are naturally so curious about the world and able to memorize and retain large amounts of information. But as you may know, there’s no shortage of curricula out there to choose from. Most homeschooling families start formal education with their littles using a kindergarten homeschool curriculum. Unity with mysql vs postgresql8/17/2023 In contrast to PostgreSQL, MySQL has always been under corporate control. PostgreSQL 6.0 was the first production release in 1997. While PostgreSQL was officially changed to take advantage of the reference to Structured Query Language, the project still uses both names. In 1985, one of the original developers of Ingres went back to Berkeley (after founding a company to commercialize Ingres) to develop a successor to Ingres that he named Postgres. One of the first relational databases, Ingres was developed at UC Berkeley in 1973 and became the platform for many commercial products. We will now examine the most popular RDBMSs and assess their benefits. SQL is the basis for most RDBMSs, so if you are familiar with this language, there’s a high chance that you can easily adjust to different database systems. RDBMSs generally require you to query and process data using a special language called structured query language (SQL). Through queries, you can retrieve and process attributes of a datum. Relational databases manage data through tables, otherwise known as relations. The latter has gained the most popularity.ĭata management approaches vary between DBMSs. There are many types of DBMSs, including Hierarchical DBMSs, Network DBMSs, Object DBMSs, and Relational DBMSs. A database management system (DBMS) is required to access the stored data. The simplest definition of a database is a place where data is stored. Why is MySQL more popular than PostgreSQL?.What is the main difference between MySQL and PostgreSQL?. Graphics card test8/17/2023 It won’t make a difference to you in terms of the step-by-step instructions, but we wanted to explain our poor results just in case you wonder.ġ. As a result, the below screenshots were taken running a benchmark on an Asus Ultrabook, with an Nvidia MX150, which is nowhere near as powerful as a regular desktop GPU. Just to warn you in advance that, due to GPU shortages at the time of writing, this writer was unable to complete his gaming PC build. While there are free versions available, they come with limited options (although you’re more than welcome to buy the full versions too.) For this guide, we’ll be using Heaven Benchmark, which has a free version with a generous amount of settings that still let you test everything properly. One of the most popular is 3DMark benchmark, which offers numerous specialized benchmarks for all devices, ranging from standard GPU tests to VR-specific benchmarks and more. There are lots of different benchmarking options out there. With that out of the way, let’s crack on with how to benchmark your graphics card. If you’re lucky enough to own an insanely powerful card like the Nvidia RTX 3080 or 3090, it should be able to handle most things at Ultra settings. Obviously the higher the resolution and graphical detail you select, in both benchmarks and the games themselves, the more strain will be put on your GPU. This means all your gaming experiences will be smooth and stable, so you can enjoy games as their developers intended. If your GPU can run an intense test without dropping below 60 fps, it should be able to handle anything you throw at it without losing performance. The absolute bare minimum acceptable frame rate for most gamers is 60 fps, though many enthusiasts accept nothing less than 144 fps or even 244 fps, to keep up with their high-end gaming monitors. These challenges are often in the form of 3D environments, and you can tweak settings such as the resolution and quality to raise or lower the load. Selecting a region changes the language and/or content on to benchmark your graphics card: what is a GPU benchmark?Ī GPU benchmark typically involves a bit of software that throws intense graphical challenges at your GPU, to see how it performs under stress. Ideally, users on macOS would see Metal, and Windows users would see D3D12. Legacy OpenGL: Legacy OpenGL means that Photoshop uses the previous generation of GPU technology.Metal: This is the preferred mode for macOS and means the user is taking full advantage of the most modern GPU APIs on that platform. This happens if you explicitly set the Technology Preference, " Older GPU Mode (Pre 2016)", or if Photoshop determines that the software renderer is required for better stability.
